Managers & Mentoring
Technical expertise can get you promoted.
It does not automatically teach you how to lead.
As careers develop, the challenges change. Decisions become less about doing the technical work yourself and more about leading people, applying technical judgement through others, understanding the financial consequences of decisions and working out where your own career goes next.
We have been increasingly asked to provide mentoring and development in these areas. Our team has experience spanning technical practice, leadership, governance, financial planning and professional development, and we believe there is a genuine gap between traditional technical training and what experienced professionals need as they move into leadership.
This is a service we are developing, not one we are ready to offer at scale today. We are currently working through how to provide it without compromising the quality or personal nature that would make it worthwhile.
Because the last thing busy professionals need is another generic leadership programme.
Leadership & Mentoring - coming when we are satisfied it is worth your time.
I particularly like that last line for your purpose. It turns ‘we don't currently have the bandwidth’ into a quality signal: BCNZ is publicly saying this is an area it intends to enter, while also saying we won't sell you something simply because we can. That fits the broader positioning of the website very well.
